Get your frying pans at the ready because Bankside's Pancake Day Race is returning to Borough Market this February.
Every year on Shrove Tuesday, local businesses in Bankside get competitive with their neighbours in a fast and furious pancake flipping 100m relay race. This is a wonderfully wacky event, so why not get involved in the festivities and cheer on the competing teams!
With plenty of atmosphere, Bankside's Pancake Day Race promises great fun for all the family with proceeds going to Paintings in Hospitals, a local charity that places fine art in clinical settings. Better yet, some of Borough Market's finest creperie traders will be open on the day.
So if this quirky take on Pancake Day sounds ideal, make a pit stop in Bankside on Tuesday 28 February.
Where is the race?
The races will be held on Stoney Street, just next to Borough Market. Nearest tube stations are London Bridge and Borough.
When do the races start?
With 25 teams raring to go, there'll be various heats with the qualifying teams racing against one another in the big finale to determine the overall winner. The first race will begin at 12.30pm and event will finish at around 2pm. Bring signs, bring friends and a competitive spirit!
