This teachers guide is aimed at showing you the mixed variety of attractions that Bankside has, which are both fun and educational. Each of the attractions offers educational programmes or activities connected to the national curriculum. The guide is set out to show what programmes are best suited to each key stage level.
GLA schools can apply for free public transport when visiting cultural venues and events within the Greater London Authority area. Your visit must be of an educational nature.
Golden Hinde
The Golden Hinde is a working ship and learning here is a ‘hands-on’ experience. The ship is equipped with a range of replica ship furniture and artefacts, all of which can be freely handled by pupils and offers a varied educational programme for KS1 - KS3.
Southwark Cathedral
Southwark Cathedral has a well equipped Education Centre with qualified, experienced staff, which supports teachers to cover the National Curriculum.
Tate Modern
The schools programme at the Tate Modern supports and enriches classroom practice and extends knowledge and understanding of Tate’s unique collection of modern art.
