Kids and Families

The Bankside riverside is a traffic free riverside walk with a handful of attractions that kids will love...

Have you wondered what it’s like to sail aboard a Tudor galleon? A storytelling session on board the Golden Hinde with costumed actors brings the wonderful story of the voyage of Sir Francis Drake alive.

Shakespeare’s Globe is the ideal place in which to introduce children to Shakespeare. The exhibition includes interactive displays and during school holidays and at weekends, Shakespeare's Globe host costume dressings, sword-fighting displays and performances from The Shakespeare's Globe musicians.

At Tate Modern visit the UBS Openings Family Zone where you can browse books or pick up one of their fun Tate Teasers at any time and get ready to look, listen and draw whilst exploring the galleries. Otherwise join the drop in ‘Start Weekend Sessions’ - a selection of challenging but fun object- and paper-based games to be played in the gallery and look out for the ticketed special activities for weekends and school holidays. You can also pick up a fun and interactive multimedia Guide to Tate Modern.

Take the kids to find out what it meant to be a prison inmate in Elizabethan London at The Clink Prison Museum. Here children have the chance to touch and handle original artefacts including torture devices and items of punishment. They will never misbehave again!

Older children and teenagers will love to be scared at The London Tombs, part of The London Bridge Experience.
