In Bankside lies Southwark Cathedral and its secluded but ever-popular Refectory.
The menu is eclectic, delicious and wholesome, consisting of freshly prepared soups served with a choice of breads, made-to-order pasta dishes and a more traditional main course option. Saints can choose an innovative main course salad and sinners can indulge in scrumptious home-made traditional cakes. The Refectory is located in the new wing of the Cathedral, which opened in 2001 to provide conference rooms and a friendly space to meet friends over good food. The Cathedral itself forms a splendid courtyard on to which the refectory opens so that al fresco eaters are cocooned in an oasis of beautiful architecture.
